The Comeback Kid

A heat-seeking tongue is just one of the tweaks the green guy is getting.

It may not be easy being green, but it certainly seems to ensure some longevity. Who's a more visible muppet than Kermit the Frog? And then there's the curious case of Frogger.

The animated amphibian hopped across many an arcade console and TV set during the 1980s, but was eclipsed in the '90s by the likes of Mario and Sonic. Now, though, the road-and-swamp-crossing Frogger is set for a ballyhooed reappearance.

Konami originally developed the fondly remembered game, but it's Hasbro Interactive that has been given the task of returning Frogger to public prominence. Not without a few 1990s-style tweaks and updates, though.

Hasbro has scheduled the release later this month of the 3D Frogger game for the PC and PlayStation formats. The game will feature nine 3D environments, and Frogger himself boasts such new abilities as the super jump, power croak, and heat-seeking tongue.
