The Bear Surfaces

We tracked down former id PR guy Barrett Alexander somewhere on a cloverleaf in Mesquite, Texas.

Comments

Caught on his cell phone - somewhere in Mesquite, Texas, traffic hell, most likely - former id Software director of business development Barrett Alexander let a few cats out of the bag concerning his sudden departure from id Software.

While keeping mum on the juiciest parts (all in due time he assured us), Alexander revealed that he had "been working on his own business for quite some time," and that his "heart wasn't into being at id" anymore.

Alexander did say that id remains "one of the best companies that could ever be," but that "it was time for me to be doing my own thing."

Alexander, who had been with id for the past two and a half years, said that when he surfaces with his new business in tow, it will indeed be game-related. He wants to keep the specifics out of the public eye until he's completely ready to show all - which should be quite soon, he added.
