One of the most-anticipated movies of 2022 is The Batman, which is scheduled for a theatrical release this March. But with COVID-19 cases still surging in the US and around the world with the Omicron variant, some are wondering if Warner Bros. might delay the movie, not unlike how Sony moved Morbius from January to April.

WarnerMedia CEO Jason Kilar commented on the matter in an interview with Matthew Belloni for Puck News (via IndieWire). He said the film studio is confident with the March date for The Batman, at least right now.

"We're certainly paying attention to everything going on with Omicron," he said. "We feel good about the date right now. We're gonna watch it day by day."

In 2021, all Warner Bros. movies released in theaters and on HBO Max, but the company's 2022 films that are planned for theaters will be be exclusive to theaters for 45 days. That means The Batman (March 4) will come to HBO Max on April 19 at the soonest. As mentioned, all of this could change if Warner Bros. decides to shift The Batman to later in the year. Keep checking back with GameSpot for the latest.

The Batman stars Robert Pattinson in the title role, along with Andy Serkis as Alfred, Jeffrey Wright as James Gordon, and John Turturro portraying Carmine Falcone. Zoe Kravitz plays Catwoman and Paul Dano portrays The Riddler.

In addition to the movie, a prequel Batman TV series is in the works for HBO Max. Outside of film, the DC video games Gotham Knights and Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League are scheduled for release in 2022.
