Capcom had one of the busiest booths at TGS this year, and for good reason. The PS3 and Xbox 360 playable demos of Devil May Cry 4 were attracting large crowds, and although the levels being demonstrated were nothing we haven't seen before, Devil May Cry 4 producer Hiroyuki Kobayashi did show off in full the Dante boss fight scene during an early Capcom stage show.

For those of you who have been following this game's progress, you'll know that Devil May Cry 4's main protagonist is Nero, a hero who looks and plays similarly to series regular Dante. Dante seems to take a backseat somewhat, although he will be playable in the full game. Previous trailers released by Capcom have hinted that Dante and Nero start off as enemies, with several scenes shown of a bruising fight between the two inside what looks like a cathedral.

Based on that footage, it was long assumed that Dante would be a boss fight within the new Devil May Cry. Kobayashi-san confirmed that today, showing an appreciative crowd at the Capcom booth the entire Nero-versus-Dante showdown, with Kobayashi-san commentating while a Capcom employee played as Nero on the big screen.

Unfortunately, the commentary was all in Japanese, so we can't tell you exactly what was said. We can tell you, however, that the fight was spectacular to watch, with both Nero and Dante pulling off some extremely flashy moves as they attacked and dodged around each other. One move stuck out in particular--Nero using his demon fist to block an incoming sword attack from Dante before throwing him across the room.

The Capcom employee managed to defeat Dante (although it was a close call), triggering a cutscene of Nero further punishing Dante. Many of these scenes have already been seen in previous trailers, including that brutal shot of Nero repeatedly battering Dante's face. The cutscene then shows Nero throwing Dante against a large statue before impaling him with his sword. Nero starts to walk away, but soon realises that Dante is still alive (despite the obscenely large sword sticking out of his chest). Nero then says to Dante, "You're not human, are you?" Dante drops to the floor and pulls the sword out of his body before responding: "Neither are you." He then jumps to the roof, with Nero shooting after him.

The Nero/Dante fight was certainly fast-paced, and left us counting down the days before we can try it ourselves. Devil May Cry 4 is due out on the PS3 and Xbox 360 in early 2008.
