Basketball fans on the fence about NBA Live 16 may be happy to learn that developer EA Sports has announced that the game will get a demo ahead of its release. The free trial will be available across PlayStation 4 and Xbox One starting September 15.

It has a tutorial system where players can get up to speed with the game and fundamentals such as dribbling and shooting. Beyond that, the demo will let you play exhibition-style games in Tip Off mode with six NBA teams (they weren't named). You can also check out NBA Live 16's new Pro-Am through the demo.

Pro-Am, a brand new mode for NBA Live 16, comes with two sub-modes: Live Run and Summer Circuit. Live Run lets you play pick-up games with up to nine friends on outdoor courts at venues like New York City's Rucker Park or Venice Beach in Los Angeles; Michael Jordan's Jordan Terminal 23 is also included.

Summer Circuit, meanwhile, is an online co-op mode where players team up with a friend to virtually travel to venues across North America to play against NBA stars.

EA Sports' announcement of the Pro-Am mode comes just a couple weeks after 2K Sports announced its own Pro-Am mode for NBA 2K16.

In NBA Live 16's Pro-Am mode, you create a player whose profile runs across Live Run, Summer Circuit, and the Rising Star career mode. You'll earn skill points for playing games across these three modes, which you can then use to upgrade your skills and buy gear and even get tattoos.

In addition, NBA Live 16 features a new companion mobile app that lets you scan your face and then upload it into the game. Let's just hope it goes better than the similar monster-producing feature for NBA 2K15. The app will be available starting September 8, and you'll be able to import your scans into the upcoming demo.

Finally, EA Sports confirmed that character progression and unlocks from the demo will carry forward to the full game when it arrives on September 29 across PS4 and Xbox One.
