Infogrames has announced that the PlayStation 2 version of Test Drive has been shipped to retailers in North America and that the Xbox version of the game will ship within the next few days. Test Drive features 13 licensed cars, ranging from the Dodge Viper GTS to the Jaguar XK-R. The game will also feature a number of different street racing modes, including a story mode in which players have to undertake a series of street races in cities around the world.

"Powerful exotic racers and muscle cars, ruthless opponent AI, and huge crashes make Test Drive the new measuring stick for console arcade racers," said Jean-Philippe Agati, senior vice president and general manager of Infogrames' Los Angeles studio. "The game is not only visually spectacular, but it also throws players into the driver's seat of the most prized custom vehicles in the world and sets them loose to wreak havoc on the streets of the world."

Look for full reviews on both versions of Test Drive soon.
