Who Is Terry Crews In Deadpool 2? New Trailer Reveals His Role

Bedlam!

Comments

The Deadpool 2 promo that was released last month was typically irreverent, but it provided fans with their first proper look at the upcoming sequel to 2015's blockbuster X-Men spin-off. While most of the teaser focused on Josh Brolin's Cable, there was one surprise addition to the cast, glimpsed very briefly--Terry Crews.

The former football star and Brooklyn 99 actor had never been formally announced as part of Deadpool 2, and it wasn't exactly clear who Crews was playing. The new Deadpool 2 trailer has now cleared up the mystery. While Crews doesn't feature much more than he did in that first promo, we do at least know who he is playing: Bedlam.

Now Playing: Deadpool 2 - Official Trailer

Confirmation comes halfway through the trailer, during a montage that shows the heroes that Deadpool is assembling to form the mutant team X-Force. Shortly after a shot of Crews smashing some bad guy into the street, we see Deadpool's hands flicking through a series of photos of potential X-Force members. While the focus is on a man named "Peter," behind that there's Bedlam. Pause the shot and it's definitely Crews--check it out below:

In Marvel's comic books, Bedlam--aka Jesse Aaronson--has the ability to project pain and confusion onto his enemies. Whether or not Deadpool 2's version can do the same is unknown, but with Crews in the role, you can bet that he's also very good at hitting. Bedlam first appeared in a 1995 issue of the X-Men spin-off title Factor X, later showing up in the X-Force comic from 1998.

As for the other members of X-Force, no one had been confirmed beyond Domino, played by Zazie Beetz. Beyond that, it's possible that Shatterstar, Anarchist, and Zeitgeist are some of the "morally dubious" mutants that we glimpse, but nothing has been confirmed yet. We've got a full breakdown and a look at all the cool images from the trailer.

Deadpool 2 hits theaters on May 16 and is directed by David Leitch (John Wick, Atomic Blonde). He replaced Tim Miller, who reportedly clashed with Reynolds over the direction of the movie. Last week it was reported that the film was undergoing reshoots to add more footage of Cable and Domino, who had proven very popular with audiences at test screenings.
