Season Three of Telltale's episodic thriller The Walking Dead begins on December 20, the studio has announced. This is a month later than the developer had previously indicated.

Titled 'A New Frontier,' Season Three will star Javier, a young man trying to find his way in a world with burgeoning new civilizations popping up the wake of the zombie apocalypse. There'll be five episodes in total, while a physical edition will be released on February 7 including episode one on-disc and download access to all four subsequent episodes as soon as they launch.

Now Playing: The Walking Dead - Third Season Teaser Trailer

PS4 users can preorder on the PlayStation Store right now, with Season Two and the miniseries Michonne included for free as a preorder bonus. Steam customers get 10% off if they preorder.

The third season will be coming to PS4, PS3, Xbox One, Xbox 360, PC, iOS, and Android. Phew.

Story details are thin on the ground right now, though Telltale said that episode one will be fully unveiled with a "special extended first look" live on stage at The Game Awards on December 1.

The Walking Dead's first season was a huge success, while the difficult second season got better and better after a weak start--as did the miniseries released in early 2016, Michonne.
