Tekken 7 Confirmed for PlayStation 4

Are you ready?

During Sony's press conference at Paris Games Week, Bandai-Namco executive producer Katsuhiro Harada confirmed that Tekken 7 will be released on PlayStation 4. Tekken 7 is currently available in arcades in Japan and there have been location tests at select arcades across North America this past summer. Harada didn't provide a release date for the PlayStation 4 version, but he did state that the console version of Tekken 7 will feature new content not seen in the original arcade version of the game.

This announcement comes on the heels of the news that Bandai-Namco's free-to-play PC fighting game, Rise of the Incarnates, will go offline a mere three months after its release.

Sony also announced today that Tekken 7 is coming to PlayStation VR, though no other details were made available.

Used to love Tekken, 'cause every time you beat the game it would unlock a new character, now we have to pay extra for them. But I'm still "curious" for Tekken 7

@macaque12: Uhhh, could you point me out in which Tekken you had to pay for characters?? You might've mixed it up with some other fighters out there... :p

I wonder if they changed the Mechanics at all. The gameplay has been pretty stale since Tekken 3.

Avatar image for conquerorsaint

sort of they basically mixed up the bound with a new mechanic called tailspin which throws the opponent farther a la CH ewhf. plus they added rage arts (super moves when raged at low health)

changing combo/juggle mechanics adding a super meter all points out to tekkenXstreetfighter game being finally made

Played this in the arcade and struggling to find any enjoyment with it. The graphics are barely an upgrade and options are far less than Tekken Tag 2.

Then you have a 'super meter', oh God how that is an awful feature to add into Tekken -____-

@RSM-HQ: it's not a super meter, but a new mechanic for rage. but yea basically they get super arts when rage is triggered

yea it seems a bit bland compared to Tag 2, and the graphics arent much to write home about, here's hoping it gets a last-gen ps3 port.

if anyone wants this game it doesn't matter what system you have, because it on the ps4 and xbox one as well so it's not exclusive to any console. i just hope the game play is sorry as hell and slow like the old ones are.

Nice, I've always been waiting on when this game would make it to consoles. Tekken 7, Street Fighter 5, and KoF 14 all coming to the ps4 so if you have one, you have a nice selection of fighting games to choose from.

And finally I have a reason to buy a PS4, if it stays an exclusive title. Tekken 7 is a system seller for me, that and Horizon Zero Dawn.

Avatar image for iammcgruber

@UrbanMessiah: not sure what you mean by if it staysexclusive, it is coming to Xbox one but not sure about PC if that's what you mean.

@iammcgruber: Oh, hadn't heard about it coming to Xbox One.. Well, that's good, but still, dat Horizon Zero Dawn, though...
