The Tekken 7 roster grows by one, as Bandai Namco has confirmed that Miguel is among the upcoming fighting game's playable characters.

He's showcased in a new trailer (above) that starts out by quickly setting up his story. As explained in a press release, "Vengeance and redemption are key plot points in the Tekken series and no other character's storyline embodies these themes than Miguel Caballero Rojo. After losing his sister in an airstrike ordered by the Mishima Zaibatsu, Miguel's life has since been consumed with exacting revenge upon the Mishima clan. His heavy-handed fighting style and unrelenting drive for vengeance are powerful weapons when wielded by the right player."

After mourning the loss of his sister, we see Miguel on the offensive, pounding on his opponents and mocking them by casually eating fruit. He also shows a flagrant disregard for common decency, throwing his fruit on the ground.

Miguel joins other confirmed characters like Heihachi, Lucky Chloe, Alisa, Josie, Law, Shaheen, and Street Fighter's Akuma. Series director Katsuhiro Harada discussed the subject of additional characters earlier this year and had some choice words for those who complain about input lag.

Tekken 7 is scheduled for release in early 2017 on PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
