Apple TV+ has announced that Season 2 of Ted Lasso will be hitting the streaming service on July 23. The show has been one of Apple TV+'s earliest hits, with the sports comedy show getting picked up for another season with 12 episodes only five days after having a strong debut in 2020. Similarly, according to a release, the series has already been renewed for Season 3 ahead of the upcoming premiere.

The show, and its titular character, have had an incredible and unexpected fast ascent. Ted Lasso centers on and is based upon a character that Jason Sudeikis (Saturday Night Live, Eastbound & Down) first portrayed in a series of promos for NBC Sports's coverage of the Premier League--and has recently netted the performer a Golden Globe for Best Actor in a TV Series, Musical or Comedy. In the show, Sudeikis stars as Ted Lasso, "a small-time college football coach from Kansas hired to coach a professional soccer team in England, despite having no experience coaching soccer." Check out the trailer for Season 2 below.

In addition to Sudeikis, Ted Lasso's cast includes Hannah Waddingham (Game of Thrones), Jeremy Swift (Downton Abbey), Brett Goldstein (Doctor Who), Juno Temple (The Dark Knight Rises), Nick Mohammed (Drunk History), Brendan Hunt (Community), and Phil Dunster (Murder on the Orient Express). Sarah Niles (Catastrophe) will be joining the cast in Season 2 in an undisclosed role.

Hunt and Sudeikis co-created Ted Lasso with Joe Kelly and Bill Lawrence. Lawrence is also currently working on revivals of both Head of the Class and Clone High.
