Target Kicks Off Major Sale To Compete With Amazon Prime Day

Target's Deal Days sale is live now, overlapping neatly with Amazon Prime Day 2020.

Target is usually keen to steal Amazon's thunder when it comes to huge sales, and Prime Day 2020 is no different. Target Deal Days returns this year with a blowout sale offering online deals on hundreds of thousands of items. It runs October 13 and 14, overlapping with Prime Day.

Target Deal Days 2020 marks the beginning of a holiday shopping season that will include "Black Friday pricing" throughout the entire month of November, according to a press release. This clarifies a previous statement Target had made saying that its "biggest holiday deals" would be available starting in October; now, it seems, Black Friday branding won't begin until November as usual.

Target also shed more light on its Black Friday plans this year. Black Friday deals begin November 1, including weeklong discounts and daily online deals. Most importantly, Black Friday deals will be advertised both in stores and online to help prevent the usual in-store crowds. It may seem strange for Black Friday to begin so early, but this trend has actually been growing for several years now, with retailers declaring the entire month "Black November." Anything that can be done to minimize traffic in stores and prevent the usual Black Friday chaos will be even more crucial this year during COVID-19.

Target's Price Match guarantee program is getting an extension as well--from November 1 to December 24, you can request a price adjustment on anything marked as a "Black Friday deal" if you find it offered for less at a Target store or online. As usual, Target will also price-match a competitor's price on an item within 14 days of purchase.
