They opened a new Dev-Studio in Shanghai: << LINK REMOVED >> it's a shame that they had to close another one before that way.

Eh, I saw that coming for a while...I mean, the studio basically hasn't done anything except port R* games to other consoles, and since the newer games have been developed on all platforms simultaneously, R* Vienna really has no further reason to exist.

well, my deepest sympathy for those...it's not easy to get a good job as game-developer here in austria. propably the graphic-designer would have a chance to get another one, but unlike the job market for normal developers the ratio for jobs to applicants is here 1:10 instead of 10:1...so good luck and best wishes! And don't forget to get all your overtime payed...that could be expansive for Take 2

THIS IS SAD AND FEEL BAD FOR THE EMPLOYEES THERE. I THINK I AM BEINGING TO DISLIKE ROCKSTAR GAMES AND ESPECAILLY TAKE-TWO.

It's really sad that they had to close this studio. They have very talented people working there. I hope that they can find a job quickly.

Hahaha, this isn't a bad thing; refresh yourself on life and get that edge you need to work on the real next gen title... it's out there and you might find it on your time off. Besides, time off is great in small doses for those in the industry. I know you love the crunch, but it is nice seeing my family's face in person once in a while...

with a resume like that, they shouldn't have any problems. on the other hand, everyone is in this position right now, so getting a job is not so easy. unless they want to help with Super Smash Bros. Brawl!

That's pretty sad. I'm sure a talented group of developers like themselves will find a nice job elsewhere.

Hmm guess that things are not quite well around here...

All there games were crap anyways. Hopefully they can get jobs in the industry again but can manage to avoid making games that cater to the lowest common denominator.

UntoldDreams: Xbox 1 is not dead. Right now there are more games coming out on XBOX 1 than the 360. Personally, I wish I didn't sell my xbox 1, then I could play POP: Two Thrones and DAH2. :(

letting gamers post about people being fired seems a little odd. All of you that lost your jobs have my condolences.

These guys never were really game developers all they ever did was port the PS2 versions of these games to the xbox. Any one can do that so they werent really an important part of the rockstar team. And to the douchebag Sithlord234 who was happy about rockstar dieing, why? Rockstar makes some of the best console games onhe market and if you actually don't like any of the GTA games then you are a retard. Plus this probably means that they won't need a studio to port PS2 games to xbox games becuase they will probably just realease the games for both systems at the same time.

Actually, the studio was founded in 1993, not 1983. And it became part of Rockstar Games in 2003, not 1993. Also, it's Austria, not Australia...

I get it... Don't you see? They were mostly Xbox 1 developers which is why they were toasted. Since M$ gave the big die-die-die to their Xbox 1 Scene... The game companies now only do 360 / Wii / PS2 / PS3 stuff... I guess they weren't "valuable enough" to upgrade into 360 developers... Strange, why aren't more Xbox 1 people upset about what happened to the Xbox 1 scene? Did everyone pirate games for the Xbox 1 which is why they aren't upset?

That is a huge shame. The Max Payne series started the whole bullet-time bonanza and did it the best. It also had one of the most unique storylines in a shooter to date. So the people behind Max Payne 2 and the xbox versions of Max Payne and GTA are now out of jobs... sucks.... RIP Rockstar Vienna
