Takahashi to keynote GameCity

Katamari Damacy designer will give the "vision statement" for this year's event in Nottingham, UK.

It's going to be a busy next few months for European gamers. First up, the Develop conference in Brighton takes place this week, followed shortly by the Edinburgh Interactive Festival on August 12-14, the Leipzig Games Convention between August 23-26, the London Games Festival from October 22-26, and then Nottingham's GameCity on October 24-28.

Details for the last mentioned are starting to be revealed, with Sony Computer Entertainment Europe, Traveller's Tales, Free Radical Design, Frontier, and Mode 7 now confirmed to be taking part. Namco Bandai's Keita Takahashi, the designer of the quirky PlayStation 2 title Katamari Damacy, will be this year's vision-statement speaker. Takahashi is currently working on the recently announced, and rather dubiously titled, Nobinobi Boy ("Nobi" means "stretching the body"--as in when you wake up--in Japanese).

Takahashi will deliver the 2007 GameCity vision statement on October 27 at the Broadway Media Centre. Last year, Oddworld Inhabitants' Lorne Lanning gave the event's vision statement, where he talked about his take on movie to game crossovers and announced his personal movie/game project, Citizen Siege.

GameCity is taking place in a variety of venues across the city of Nottingham. GameSpot will be there to provide coverage and bring you the news as it happens.
