The upcoming pirate comedy Our Flag Means Death has added some new cast members. The HBO Max series is executive produced by Thor Ragnarok and JoJo Rabbit director Taika Waititi, who will also act in the show and direct the pilot.

As reported by Variety, the latest actors to join the show include Kristian Nairn, best for playing Hodor in Game of Thrones, who will play a character named Wee John Feeney, plus Nathan Foad (Bloods) as Lucius, Samson Kayo (Truth Seekers) as Oluwanda, Rory Kinnear (Penny Dreadful) as both Captain Nigel Badminton and Chauncey Badminton, Con O'Neill (Chernobyl) as Izzy, and Vico Ortiz (American Horror Story: 1984) as Bonifacia.

Our Flag Means Death is created by David Jenkins and is loosely based on true adventures of Stede Bonnet, a wealthy landowner who gave up fancy living in 1717 to hit the high seas as a pirate. Rhys Darby (Flight of the Conchords) plays Bonnet, while Waititi will appear as dreaded pirate Blackbeard. The show doesn't have a release date yet.

Our Flag Means Death is one of many new projects that Waititi is involved with. The prolific filmmaker's upcoming sports comedy Next Goal Wins, starring Michael Fassbender, was shot in late 2019, and he recently wrapped production on the Marvel movie Thor: Love and Thunder, ahead of its February 2022 release. He's also developing two animated Charlie and the Chocolate Factory series for Netflix, co-producing the FX comedy Reservation Dogs, and is attached to a future Star Wars movie.
