Taco Bell's Latest Ad Takes on Game DLC
"No DLC. No season pass. No premium content. Just Pepper Jack cheese.
Taco Bell's "Bigger Than" ad campaign for its new Quesalupa is now apparently targeting gamers. The ad below popped up in my Facebook feed this morning; and it's the first time I can remember seeing it. The campaign takes some phenomenon--DLC in this case, but virtual reality, the Mars landing, and aliens were referenced in the original Super Bowl 50 ad--and then claims the Quesalupa will be even bigger.
"No DLC. No season pass. No premium content. Just Pepper Jack cheese," reads a line from the ad.
DLC is indeed a big part of gaming. Just recently, EA announced that its Ultimate Team modes for its sports games bring in $650 million yearly. Additionally, Grand Theft Auto parent company Take-Two makes some serious cash on what it calls "recurrent consumer spending." We also recently learned that Kim Kardashian's mobile game is making millions and millions of dollars.
It's clear that DLC is a big deal. But will the Quesalupa be even bigger? Only time will tell.
Here again is the ad from Super Bowl 50 last month.
