Microids has announced that Syberia, its latest adventure game, has shipped to stores in Canada. The game was in development for two years at Microids' Montreal studio, and it is the most ambitious project that the studio has undertaken since it was set up in 1999. With a development price of more than $2 million, the game is also the single most expensive project Microids has ever created.

"When we set up in Montreal three years ago we committed ourselves to developing high-quality titles using local creativity," said Olivier Fontenay, vice president of development for Microids. "With Syberia, we are now making good on that promise, thanks largely to the talent of Quebecois artists, organizers, programmers, and coders."

Syberia lets players assume the role of Kate Walker, a young lawyer from New York on an assignment to track down the missing heir to a mysterious European estate. Players must solve a number of puzzles, travel to several exotic locations, and interact with a variety of characters in order to complete their quest. Syberia will be available in the US in September. For more information, take a look at our previous coverage of the game.
