With Marvel vs. Capcom 3 not expected until next year, fans of Capcom's fighting franchises may be getting a bit anxious for a pugilistic pick-me-up. The publisher hopes to oblige them, as today it announced a new wave of alternative costumes for each of the 35 characters in Super Street Fighter IV.

The new costumes will be released in a series of downloadable content packs, with the first such add-on launching October 26 for both the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. The new duds comprise original designs and nods to the series' past. Blanka's feathered outfit gives the Brazilian fighter a new flair, while Chun Li's original Street Fighter Alpha costume and Dan Hibiki's Tengu mask serve as callbacks that will be recognized by some faithful fans.

Pricing is still unannounced, and Capcom hasn't said which costumes will be included in the initial DLC or how often they will be released. However, the publisher released five-costume packs for the original Street Fighter IV for $4 (320 Microsoft points), or $20 to buy them all at once. In making today's announcement, Capcom released screens for five fighters' new costumes: Chun Li, Cammy, T Hawk, Sakura, and Juri.
