Super Smash Bros. Wii U/3DS Gets New DLC Fighter Next Week
Lucas will be available to buy on June 14, alongside some Splatoon-themed Mii costumes.
Nintendo announced today that Mother 3 hero Lucas will be added to the Super Smash Bros. Wii U and 3DS roster starting next week as a paid DLC character.
He'll be available to buy on June 14, starting at 8 AM PDT / 11 AM PDT. Paying $4 unlocks Lucas on Wii U or 3DS, while $5 gets you a bundle for both platforms.
This is the same pricing model as Super Smash Bros.' first DLC character, Mewtwo.
Lucas appeared in 2008's Super Smash Bros. Brawl and is accompanied in the new game by another Earthbound character, Ness.
In addition, the Japanese Nintendo Smash Bros. Twitter account mentions that a Lucas-themed Miiverse stage will arrive for the game starting next week. It's unclear if this stage is also coming to North America, but we've followed up with Nintendo to find out.
An update on the Super Smash Bros. website also reveals that various Splatoon-themed in-game Mii costumes for Super Smash Bros. will be available to buy on June 14 for 75 cents each.
The Lucas announcement today comes on the 20th anniversary of Earthbound's release in the US.
