Smash Bros. Ultimate Adds Ken And Incineroar To The Roster
Two more characters join the fray.
The Super Smash Bros. Ultimate roster has grown even bigger. During its final Smash Bros. Direct presentation, Nintendo unveiled the last pair newcomers making their debut on the base roster: Ken from Street Fighter and Incineroar from Pokemon. [Update: It turns out these aren't the final characters; Piranha Plant will be available as a pre-order bonus, and five other fighters are coming as DLC.]
Ken is an Echo Fighter of his rival Ryu, Street Fighter's previous representative in the Smash series. His appearance in Ultimate is based on his look in Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo. He's a bit faster than Ryu and has a handful of other differences, such as a different shaped Hadoken. He also has two Final Smashes: Shinryuken and Shippu Jinraikyaku.
The other new fighter joining the roster, Incineroar, is one of the starter Pokemon from the series' latest installments, Sun and Moon. Incineroar's moves are inspired by pro wrestling; it has powerful throws and, like a wrestler, poses after every attack. Its neutral Smash attack is Darkest Lariat, while its Final Smash is Max Malicious Moonsault, a more powerful version of its Z Move from Sun and Moon.
With Ken and Incineroar's announcement, there are now 74 playable characters on the Super Smash Bros. roster. Along with every fighter who has ever appeared in a previous Smash Bros. game, Ultimate introduces a number of other newcomers to the series such as Ridley from Metroid, Simon and Richter Belmont from the Castlevania series, and Animal Crossing's Isabelle. You can see everyone who is playable in our full Super Smash Bros. Ultimate roster list.
