Nintendo finally confirmed its mascot fighting game is coming to Switch, but we have some questions.

During the Nintendo Direct briefing last week, Nintendo finally confirmed news that fans have been waiting to hear since the Switch was first announced: a Super Smash Bros. game is coming to Switch later this year. That's a big deal because it's one of Nintendo's most beloved and best-selling franchises ever. Fans lost their minds when the game was announced, and it'll surely help Nintendo sell even more systems this year.

We've only seen one very briefing, tantalising teaser trailer, but that hasn't stopped us from wondering and speculating on what the game may offer. Is it a port of the Wii U edition with some new stages and characters (a la Mario Kart 8 Deluxe)? Which new characters are joining the roster?

Now Playing: Is Super Smash Bros. For Switch A Remaster?

GameSpot's Jake Dekker and Gajan Kulasingham discuss these topics and more in a new video, which you can watch above. Nintendo has shared very little about the game, only obviously teasing the inclusion of a handful of characters and nothing about new gameplay elements, though the series is quite popular around the GameSpot offices.

Super Smash Bros. for Switch doesn't have a release date, but we might learn more about it at E3 or potentially sooner. So keep checking back with GameSpot for the latest. In the meantime, check out the Smash Bros. characters we want to see on Switch.
