It's the "worst-kept secret in history," Universal boss says.

Super Nintendo World, a theme park area focused around Nintendo's Mario universe, is coming to Universal's resort in Orlando, management confirmed this week at the Universal Studio Hollywood park's grand opening event for the attraction.

CEO Mark Woodbury said this was probably the "worst-kept secret in history," given that people had already snapped photos of the theme park being constructed. And it was always assumed that Universal would bring the attraction to its Florida park to complement similar parks in Japan and California. Here is Woodbury making the official announcement:

Super Nintendo World at Universal Studios Hollywood opens today, February 17, which is less than two months before Universal's Super Mario Bros. movie releases in April.

A Super Nintendo World is also planned for Universal's park in Singapore. Universal just recently announced plans for additional theme parks in Texas and Nevada, but whether or not Super Nintendo World will be included in those remains to be seen.

Super Nintendo World at Universal Studios Hollywood has a lot of what you'd expect, including Mario-themed rides--including Mario Kart: Bowser's Challenge--as well as themed food and merch, as well as people dressed up like Mario, Luigi, and other Mushroom Kingdom characters.
