During the latest Nintendo Indie World livestream, it was announced that Super Meat Boy Forever is coming to Switch as a console launch exclusive. The game will be released for Switch next week.

At The Game Awards 2020, it was announced that Super Meat Boy Forever would release on December 23 for PC. The game is coming out on Switch the same day, and it's the only console that will support the challenging platformer at launch. Team Meat previously said Forever is also coming to Xbox One and PS4.

"Super Meat Boy was a massive success that changed my life forever and people had been clamoring for a sequel for ages," Team Meat co-founder and programmer Tommy Refenes said in a press release. "But I didn't just want to deliver more of the same and call it a day. Meat Boy deserved more than that. I wanted to rebuild Meat Boy from the ground up, in a way that would offer an entirely new experience that still hits all the same kinetic, addictive notes as its predecessor. I know Super Meat Boy Forever took forever to make but we're confident that it was worth the wait."

Super Meat Boy Forever sees the child of the titular Meat Boy and Bandage Girl, Nugget, get kidnapped by Dr. Fetus. Both Meat Boy and Bandage Girl team up to save their kid, jumping and punching their way through numerous levels packed to the brim with saws, spikes, and other terrifyingly dangerous obstacles. Each level is generated on the fly using pre-designed "chunks." The controls in Super Meat Boy Forever involve just two buttons--one for jumping and one for attacking, diving, and sliding. Unlike its predecessor, this is an auto-runner, where your character is always on the move, but like the first game, it looks incredibly difficult.

To commemorate Super Meat Boy Forever's release on Nintendo Switch, PowerA is releasing an officially licensed Meat Boy Nintendo Switch Enhanced Wireless Controller. The controller can be preordered on PowerA.com right now and will be available for preorder on Amazon starting December 16. If you want it, act on it sooner rather than later--the controller will be available in limited quantities, costing $50 USD / £40 / €50.
