Super Mario Bros. Movie Screening Included Image Of Partially Naked Woman For "Several Seconds"

The theater said it is working with authorities to figure out what happened.

A UK theater has apologized after one of its recent screenings of The Super Mario Bros. Movie featured a brief glimpse of a partially undressed woman.

Londonderry's Waterside Theatre in Northern Ireland acknowledged the "unfortunate but serious" incident in a Facebook post. "The welfare of our visitors is always our main concern and we will be working with the relevant authorities which means we cannot comment further at this time," the theater said.

"We offer our sincere apologies to all those affected."

The BBC reported that the screening was organized for primary school children. The publication said an "image of a partially undressed woman appeared on screen for several seconds before being removed."

Democratic Unionist Party assembly member Gary Middleton said "there needs to be an investigation into how this happened and particularly the equipment used."

The Super Mario Bros. Movie is 2023's biggest film to date based on box office results, banking more than $1.3 billion globally. Given its enormous success, a sequel is probably coming. Beyond that, there have been reports of a Zelda animated film, and producer Chris Meledandri did not deny them.
