The Switch Mario collection receives its first update, but it only makes a handful of fixes "to improve the overall experience."

Super Mario 3D All-Stars is officially out on Nintendo Switch, and there's already an update waiting for players who pick it up. The collection's 1.0.1 patch is now live, but it's a fairly minor one as far as updates go, primarily making a small handful of fixes and improvements.

According to the patch notes from Nintendo's support website, 3D All-Stars' 1.0.1 update improves the screen display for Super Mario Galaxy's two-player Co-Star Mode. Beyond that, the patch also makes several unspecified fixes "to improve the overall gameplay experience." You can read the full patch notes below.

Mario 3D All-Stars is a Switch compilation featuring the plumber's first three 3D platformers: Super Mario 64, Super Mario Sunshine, and Super Mario Galaxy. Each game displays at a higher resolution and has some modified controls to better suit the Switch hardware. You can read more in our Mario 3D All-Stars review.

Physical copies of Mario 3D All-Stars are available at a variety of retailers, but the collection is a limited release and will only be on sale until March 31, 2021. If you're looking to pick it up, here's how you can get it for $10 off on release day.

Mario 3D All-Stars was released as part of Nintendo's Super Mario 35th anniversary celebration, but there are more games and activities on the way. Super Mario Bros. 35, a battle royale-inspired version of the NES classic, is launching on October 1 for Nintendo Switch Online subscribers, while Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury--an expanded Switch port of the Wii U game--is coming early next year.

There will also be a variety of Mario-themed events in other Switch games. Splatoon 2 is hosting a Mario-themed Splatfest in January, while Mario furniture is coming to Animal Crossing: New Horizons in March. There will also be a 35th anniversary Ninji Speedrun course in Super Mario Maker 2 this November.

@mcnichoj: I couldn't care a Rufus the rat's ass about the Galaxy games, but I must admit that it would be cool if they did that, Nicho. That said, I perceive that you would be displeased with their timetable no matter what.

@asnakeneverdies: No timetable exists and I was already displeased. We probably won't get Galaxy 2 just like how the boxed copy of All Stars for Wii didn't include Mario World. I bought the game primarily for 64 and I'm enjoying it a lot. Doesn't change the fact fans deserved more than what was offered. This is Nintendo though and they always get away with bare minimum effort. They should at least put in an invert control option for Sunshine.

@mcnichoj: Forget the fans, the fandom sucks! It's the games themselves that deserve better, Nicho. I hope with you that there will be more to this release but, alas, you're enjoying yourself dropping baby penguins to their death, and that's ultimately what this collection strove for, to take us back to a happier time, my dear friend. 🐍🕹

A 24 year old game with no significant upgrades and they still didn't put in enough effort to make sure the physical copy was bug-free.

@Rufus_the_rat: This is a collection of games (spanning over a decade) that share the same application package, Rufus. Whenever there's an update for it, it does not mean that the oldest game is being targeted. This update, from what we can read, applies primarily to Super Mario Galaxy (2007). That said, I agree with your sentiment, if not with your remark. 🐀🐍
