Suicide Squad Is Now An Academy Award Winning Film
"I'm an immigrant, I come from Italy. I've worked around the world, and this is for all the immigrants!"
At the 89th Academy Awards on Sunday night, Suicide Squad, the David Ayer directed DC Entertainment film, walked away with an Oscar for "Makeup and Hairstyling."
Alessandro Bertolazzi, Giorgio Gregorini, and Christopher Nelson accepted the award. This was the first award for each of them. Bertolazzi, who is Italian, dedicated the award to all immigrants during his speech.
While the film wasn't a huge hit with mass audiences or critics, only scoring a 40 on GameSpot sister-site Metacritic, it did win over many people with the practical makeup on characters like Killer Croc, Enchantress, Harley Quinn, and El Diablo. It was one of the few things the film did exceptionally well, and now, they have an Oscar to prove it.
