Take-Two Interactive has announced the release of Stronghold, its real-time strategy game based on medieval siege warfare. The game, which has been published under Take-Two's GodGames label, lets players build and manage their own medieval castle while defending themselves against enemy attacks.

Stronghold is set in a European countryside in the midst of a war between four lords. Players must build castles, establish settlements, and oversee their peasants as they try to unite the land under their king. The game features four game modes: economic campaign mode, which lets players compete without combat; siege mode, which lets players participate in famous historical sieges; challenge mode; and a freebuild castle-building mode that lets players design their ideal castle. In addition to the single-player modes, Stronghold features a multiplayer mode that supports up to eight players. The game also includes a complete map and scenario editor.

Stronghold was developed by FireFly Studios, and it is now available in stores for an approximate retail price of $39.95. For more information, take a look at our previous coverage of the game.
