Dotemu has published a new trailer for Streets of Rage 4, the long-awaited new entry in Sega's classic beat-em-up series. While previous trailers have shown returning characters Axel Stone and Blaze Fielding dishing out some street justice, the Gamescom 2019 trailer reveals a brand new character: Cherry Hunter.

For those that have been keeping up with their Streets of Rage lore, the surname "Hunter" may sound familiar. That's because Cherry Hunter is the daughter of Adam Hunter from the first game in the Streets of Rage series. That also means she's related Adam's younger brother, Eddie "Skate" Hunter, who was a playable character in Streets of Rage 2.

Cherry is described as "a badass guitar-playing warrior" that was trained by her father and Axel. "Cherry learned self-defense from a young age," reads her official description. "Her interest in following in her father’s footsteps and becoming a cop soon faded out, replaced by her love of music.

"Nowadays, she plays with her electro progressive rock band in some of the most dangerous places in Wood Oak City. She may look young but make no mistake--she is a seasoned veteran of kicking ass and taking names."

The new trailer also shows off a few more levels that players will be fighting through. These include rooftops, an elevator, airport hangars, and sewers, among others. Expectations are high for the soundtrack that will accompany the beatdowns happening on these stages. Not only is Yuzo Koshiro, the series' original composer, making a return alongside frequent collaborator Motohiro Kawashima, but a number of acclaimed video game composers are joining them. It's an all-star group of artists working on Streets of Rage 4's soundtrack.

Dotemu has also confirmed that Streets of Rage 4 will be available for PC, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch. A release date has not been revealed yet.
