Street Fighter Anniversary Collection Hands-On

Third Strike and the oddball SF2 compilation known as Hyper Street Fighter II are coming to the Xbox.

TOKYO--Recently released on the PlayStation 2, Capcom's Street Fighter Anniversary Collection is also coming to the Xbox. Like its PS2 counterpart, the game delivers two fighting games: Street Fighter III: Third Strike and Hyper Street Fighter II, which takes every version of every Street Fighter II character and throws them all into one game.

Like the PlayStation 2 version of the game, the games are arcade-perfect translations. The games control well with the Xbox controller, though some of the stations displaying the game at the 2004 Tokyo Game Show were equipped with a more traditional joystick.

The difference between the Xbox and PlayStation 2 versions of this collection is that the Xbox version can be played online via Xbox Live. Unfortunately, this is the only option that is unavailable in the version on display at TGS, so we are unable to test this portion of the game at this time. If Capcom can get these games running without any major lag problems--which it has done in the past with Capcom vs. SNK 2 EO for the Xbox--then this version of the Street Fighter Anniversary Collection should be pretty exciting.
