Laura Matsuda is a Brazillian Jiu-Jitsu user and heir to the famed Matsuda Jiu-Jitsu fighting style. Like Ryu, she's searching the world for strong opponents to defeat and spread the legend of the Matsuda Jiu-Jitsu style.
Described as the first grappler in Street Fighter history to have a projectile, Laura is designed for those that enjoy getting up close and personal and using command grabs and quick moves to play mind games.
Her V-Skill is called Linear Movement and, by holding either back or forward when pressing the medium punch and kick buttons, she moves in the corresponding direction, allowing her to quickly get in and out. If no direction is held she'll perform an overhead kick.
Laura's V-Trigger is Spark Show, during which she enters an electrified state that allows her Thunder Clap projectile to travel further, and for her attacks to deal more stun.
Capcom previously confirmed that there will be four brand new characters coming to Street Fighter V. In addition to Laura, the studio has already revealed Necalli and Rashid, which leaves one more.
In other recent Street Fighter V news, Capcom has announced that the game's next beta will begin later this month. This second beta will support cross-platform play between PlayStation 4 and PC.
Street Fighter V does not currently have a confirmed release date, but Capcom has said that the game will be out during its current fiscal year, which ends on March 31, 2016. Take a look at a gallery of Laura screenshots below.
