Strategy Game Duelyst's First Expansion Coming Very Soon, Adds 105 Cards
Denizens of Shim'zar arrives on August 30.
Duelyst, the gorgeous free-to-play collectible card game from Counterplay Games, will add 105 brand new cards through its first full expansion later this month, the developer has announced. The expansion is called Denizens of Shim'zar, and it will be available on August 30 for PC.
With the 105 new cards, Duelyst's total number of cards will balloon to 400.
Denizens of Shim'zar also adds more units, spells, and tokens, as well as the new Tribal Card, Battle Pets. "These new tribal cards will act independently at the start of each turn in a predictable deterministic way, making for the potential that the cards can be manipulated to favor the opponent by skillful players," the developer said in a press release.
Spirit Orbs for Denizens of Shim'zar are available for a lower price of 50 orbs for $50. Additionally, everyone who preorders gets the Shim'zar card back variant. It's also worth noting that a portion of preorder proceeds, 10 percent, are being applied to the Duelyst World Championship competitive gaming circuit
Duelyst's gameplay mixes Fire Emblem-like tactical strategy with a card game like Hearthstone. You summon units and cast spells by playing cards you draw from a deck. Additionally, the visuals blend pixel art and hand-drawn illustrations, courtesy of Rogue Legacy and Chasm artist Glauber Kotaki. You can check out some of its art in the gallery below.
Looking ahead, Duelyst is also coming to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, as well as mobile devices, though release dates for those versions have not yet been announced. All current and future Duelyst content will be available on consoles, including Denizens of Shim'zar, a representative told GameSpot.
