Stormtroopers Fly Now In Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker's Thrilling First Clip

Have a look at the first clip from Episode IX ahead of its release in December.

The first clip for Star Wars Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker has been released. The latest Star Wars movie hits theaters next month, and this first action-packed scene gives us an idea of what to expect when Episode IX arrives in theatres--you can also read our Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker review.

It's a thrilling desert chase, in which our heroes--including Rey, Poe, Finn, C-3PO, and Chewie-- are being pursued by First Order troopers on speeders. These speeders have an innovation we've not seen in a Star Wars movie to date--ejector seats that fling rocket-powered troopers high into the air above their enemies. It's a fast-moving and funny scene--check it out below:

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is directed by JJ Abrams, who previously helmed 2015's The Force Awakens. It stars Daisy Ridley as Rey, John Boyega as Finn, Oscar Isaac as Poe Dameron, Adam Driver as Kylo Ren, Kelly Marie Tran as Rose Tico, Lupita Nyong'o as Maz Kanata, Domhnall Gleeson as General Hux, Mark Hamill as Luke, and Billy Dee Williams as Lando.

Now that the movie is only few weeks away, there's been quite a bit of recent promotional material. Last week, these stylish character posters were released, which followed a new batch of imagery. You can also watch the latest trailer here. The Rise of Skywalker releases on December 20.

In related news, the first live-action Star Wars show, The Mandalorian, hit Disney+ earlier this month. The first three episodes are available--check out GameSpot's reviews of Episode 1, Episode 2, and Episode 3. In addition, it's been reported that a director has been lined up for the Star Wars movie due in 2022--and we might find out who it is in January.
