We're on the verge of Game 3 in the World Series, with the Boston Red Sox holding a 2-0 lead over their National League opponents, the St. Louis Cardinals. So far the series has been pretty compelling, if lopsided.

We here at GameSpot Sports didn't want to wait for Game 4 (or beyond, if necessary) to find out who would end up as World Series Champions this year, so we took the fight to the videogame realm, fully simulating the championship on our two highest-rated console baseball games of the year, MVP Baseball 2004 and ESPN Major League Baseball. What we found were two teams fighting tooth and nail to win games, several dramatic come-from-behind wins, some outstanding pitching performances, and even a couple of surprises.

The real world Red Sox are in good position to take their first major league title in more than 85 years. The curse, if you believe in such things, may finally be over once and for all. However, if you're as eager as we are to see who will be crowned the World Series Champion this year, or if you're a Cardinals fan holding out in the hopes that they can rally from behind to take out the Sox, check out our Simulated 2004 World Series feature story.
