SteelSeries announced its new line of Alias desktop mics today. While SteelSeries is best known for its gaming headsets, the SteelSeries Alias and Alias Pro mark its first foray into the mic space. Both mics are built with gaming and streaming in mind, and sport numerous features designed to make broadcasting live on platforms like Twitch or YouTube much easier.

The SteelSeries Alias is a $180 USB mic engineered for broadcast-quality sound. You can plug a pair of wired headphones into the mic's 3.5mm input slot for live voice monitoring, but for those who want to stream without headphones or listen to a different audio source, there's also a simple LED voice level indicator on the front of the mic so you can see your volume at a glance, and the display will show a red X when your voice is peaking. While its more expensive than the average USB mic, the simple features and high-quality voice capture could make the Alias an ideal option for streamers who want a simple USB setup or can't afford an XLR mic and mixer.

For those who do want an XLR option, there is the Alias Pro. The Alias Pro sports the same specs and voice monitoring features as the standard Alias mic, but includes an XLR preamp and mixer that includes a gain dial, mute toggle, and programmable buttons, plus unique capabilities that could help streamline dual-PC streaming setups. When paired with SteelSeries' free Sonar desktop app, the Alias Pro's mixer can be plugged into up to two PCs at once via USB and can capture, adjust, and mix up to five audio channels at the same time. The Alias Pro starts at $330.

Along with the new mics, SteelSeries also announced a new $99 SteelSeries Boom Arm that supports the Alias, Alias Pro, and other ⅜-inch or ⅝-inch thread microphones. It features three lockable pivot points, 360-degree rotation, cable-hiding compartment, and ships with a desk clamp and threading adapters.

The SteelSeries Alias, Alias Pro, and Boom Arm are all on sale now at the SteelSeries online store. You can also download the free Sonar app from the SteelSeries website.
