Now Playing: GS News Update: Steam's Warhammer: Vermintide 2 Gets Off To A Very Fast Start

Vermintide 2 takes place during Warhammer's apocalyptic End Times. Your heroes hack, slash, and shoot their way through 13 levels are you take on the combined forces of the Skaven army and the barbaric Chaos faction.

You're given your choice of five characters for each level, and the game allows you to choose four to take with you into battle. Each of your heroes has three careers to choose from, with each career providing them with a set of passive and active abilities, along with a talent tree to advance your characters' abilities. The original Warhammer: End Times - Vermintide was praised for its tense, frantic action and mechanically diverse characters, two gameplay features that have returned in this sequel.

Warhammer: Vermintide 2's numbers could see a second big jump in the future. The game will also be released for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Fatshark has said players can expect console betas this spring.

Good. A multiplayer game with no microtransactions to be found.

Loved the first game on both PC and console. Haven't had time to play this yet, and the crew hasn't pushed for it yet either, but we all agree it's on radar for this Spring. (We're also all a bit gunshy about Fatshark's early patches, after last time...)

The first game was terrible. As a killing floor 1 and 2 fan I thought this would cure the itch in a first person melee kind of fashion and I just did not like it at all. Killing floor is a far superior game if you like this style of game.

@darkhunterix: Killing floor is fun with friends for small doses at times. Beyond that its very mundane. Vermintide 2 is very co operative and youre not going to be able to do much without a solid team. As of curing the itch this game is much more intense and much more in your face gore and rat/northlander killing combat. its a huge improvement from the first one which was also exceptional. The game is very challenging, its also a bit of a grind to get to the highest difficulties.

@darkhunterix: erm... Killing Floor is NOT the same kind of game. Killing Floor is a Horde-mode game.

Vermintide is a direct clone and evolution of Left 4 Dead 2. ...and it's an excellent pseudo-sequel. Loved it.

Glad to see this. I love Warhammer games when they are fun and successful. I am surprised they have sold so many copies. I thought Vermintide was a pretty under-the-radar type of game. But it looks like gamers still found it. Awesome.

@RELeon: A lot of us were rabid (pun!) supporters and promoters of the first game, even through a few questionable early patches.
