The annual Steam Summer Sale has begun with ongoing sales for the rest of the month from June 19 to June 30.

Much like Steam's winter festivities, you can also take part in the Summer Adventure. "Offered for free, the Summer Adventure offers the chance to earn in-game items, community rewards, and even free games by collecting Summer Adventure Trading Cards."

You'll want to check back frequently, since the best deals come in the Flash Sales and Daily Deals, but the event is kicking off with the deep discounts of 75-80% off big titles like The Witcher 2 (currently $4), Far Cry 3 ($7.50), and XCOM Enemy Unknown ($7.50).

If you like 4x space strategy games, it's fantastic, I spent over 100 hours on one single massive campaign alone against 4 AI's. Tho if you're not into that sort of thing and lack patience then I wouldn't recommend it.

Also that game is old, they patched it to 64-bit but is not multithreaded, the game will severely lag on the most high end i7's late game when you have massive amounts of units and star systems.

When browsing the different offers, I mostly think two things: 1. Already have it. 2. Already have something similar that I haven't played yet.

Still, I'm looking forward to this years sale more than the last year, because I have a little more money to spend now and there are a few games that aren't like something I already have. I'll wait for them to go down to 5 euros or less or wait for another sale. I'll eventually get the game I want for the price I want and in the meantime I'll try to reduce my backlog.
