Steam Autumn Sale 2013 starts now

If you're a PC (or Mac) gamer and you're ready to get a jump on your holiday shopping, the Steam Autumn Sale starts today.

Running through December 3, there are the usual slate of deals:

  • General sales in place until the end of the promotion
  • Daily Deals that last for 1-2 days
  • Flash Sales that change every 8 hours

Pro-tip: if you want to make sure you're alerted as soon as a game you're waiting for goes on sale, just add it to your wishlist to get an emailed reminder.

Also, while some of the ongoing sales might be tempting, we'd recommend holding off on any purchases until the game comes up on one of the Daily Deals or Flash Sales to ensure you get the biggest discount. A few of the current notable sales:

  • Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim for $7.49 (75% off)
  • Sleeping Dogs for $4.99 (80% off)
  • The Walking Dead for $6.24 (74% off)

Nice to see that Steam finally understands that there is more than one hemisphere on the Earth. Log in from NZ & it says the Spring Sale.

Unfortunately they still decide to discriminate against us based on our geographic location. Even the sale price for Skyrim is US$8.74. That's not so bad, but US$69.95 for Assassin's Creed 4? C'mon! Steam sales can be pretty good, but I'm seriously tempted to get a VPN.

@bbq_R0ADK1LL im in NZ and it still says Autumn lol, one thing that pisses me off though, is they rope the Aussie currency with NZ currency. They never use to do that. I use to get brand new games for the US price of $60, not $89, but they changed it to the Aussie price and Aussie games are expensive.

I had a quick try at getting a cheaper price on a Steam game when I was in Mexico, but because my credit card had an NZ address, they still tried to charge me the NZ price.

Good to see you guys don't get the same crazy taxes as on the PS4 though.

<< LINK REMOVED >> Sleeping Dogs is an excellent game. If you like sandbox GTA style games at all, it's worth playing. The focus on melee combat over gunplay is a great point of difference, although maybe a little familiar if you've played anything from the Batman series. The graphics are amazing & the feel of the city is really immersive.

Your loss if you don't play it, but I would recommend this game to anyone & I hope they make another one.

<< LINK REMOVED >> If you like openworld run-over-grannies-and-steal-cars games i can recommend Sleeping Dogs. Its one hell of a game and be sure to download the HD texture pack. Its goddamn beautiful (much more so than GTA 5) and has a great hand-to-hand combat system.

<< LINK REMOVED >> Oh well. If you like Narrative-driven games (adventure game, mind you) i can also recommend The Walking Dead. Great game, only 10 hours or so long though. Well worth it for the current price though.

Terraria is also great value. Its and awesome game to play with a friend over Skype/mumble.
