State Of Decay 2: New Look At Fresh Gameplay

Zombies, zombies everywhere.

We have a fresh look at the very un-fresh zombies in State of Decay 2, thanks to a hands-on at PAX East. In the video above, we look for salvage at a convenience store, only to run into fellow survivor and charm school failure Fito. It all culminates in defending our base from a zombie attack. This isn't a final build, but it gives us a better idea of what to expect from the game when it arrives.

State of Decay 2 is slated for PC and Xbox One on May 22, at a budget price of $30 for the standard version. The Ultimate edition will instead cost $50, which will also net you early access on May 18, an Xbox One copy of State of Decay: Year One Survival Edition, and the Independence and Daybreak DLC packs for SoD2. Pre-ordering will also net you some exclusive goodies.

Microsoft is also putting out a Collector's Edition of physical goodies: a latex zombie mask, steelbook case, a brain-shaped case stand, a 4 GB USB thumb drive that actually looks like a thumb, and an iron-on patch. It costs $70, but doesn't actually include the game, so you'd have to shell out an extra $30-50 depending on which edition you want to get.

As with all Microsoft first-party games, State of Decay 2 will be included in the Xbox Game Pass, the $10 per month subscription service. That initiative began with the recently launched Sea of Thieves.
