Starfleet Command Volume II Screens

We've snapped up eight screens showcasing the two new races in Interplay's upcoming sequel.

The sequel to last year's acclaimed Star Trek ship combat game introduces two new races, the Interstellar Concordium (ISC) and the Mirak Star League. The eight screens linked above show off the ships and interface art for both. The ISC's asset is the powerful Plasmatic Pulsar Device (PPD), while the Mirak rely on devastating missile cruisers.

Starfleet Command garnered attention for its complex yet elegant tactical-combat system, and Taldren, the developer, has done little to change what worked, focusing on a reworking of the single-player campaign mode. Additionally, the tactical-fleet control screen has been redesigned, and the multiplayer code will now support joining in on games already in progress. The game uses a version of the original Starfleet Command's graphic engine that has been modified to support luminosity mapping, colored light sources, and damage textures.

Starfleet Command Volume II is expected to be complete this winter.
