Interplay announced today that it plans to release a new stand-alone Starfleet Command mission pack named Starfleet Command: Orion Pirates. The mission pack will include a 12-mission campaign, 26 skirmish missions, and three bonus missions based on the classic Star Trek episode: "A Piece of the Action." As the title suggests, the campaign will focus on the Orion Pirates, a large criminal organization consisting of eight different cartels with unique histories, interfaces, and other characteristics. In the bonus missions, players will return to the planet Iotia to prevent the Orions from capturing any additional planets. There will also be new types of weapons available in Starfleet Command: Orion Pirates, such as shield-piercing phasers and heavy photon torpedoes.

Starfleet Command: Orion Pirates is due out this summer, and it will not require Starfleet Command Volume II to play. To learn more about the Starfleet Command series, take a look at our previous coverage.
