Bethesda also said during the Starfield Direct that the wireless controller is inspired by your ship's controls in the game. There are transparent triggers on the pad, displaying bronze rumble motors, according to the Xbox Store. A special-edition Seagate hard drive was also revealed and releases alongside the game. Keep in mind that you can't boot Series X|S or PS5 games from an external drive--you have to transfer them to the internal drive first.

There will also be a Starfield Collector's Edition that comes with five days of early access to the game along with a smartwatch. For details on all editions of the game, check out our Starfield preorder guide.

Microsoft is no stranger to special-edition controllers, releasing special versions for a variety of first-party games and also offering nearly endless customization options with the Xbox Design Lab. Starfield is scheduled to hit Xbox Series X|S and PC on September 6.
