StarCraft 2: Legacy of the Void's Co-Op Mode Gets New Gameplay Trailer

Today at Gamescom, Blizzard Entertainment released a new gameplay trailer and more details for StarCraft II: Legacy of the Void's co-op mode, Allied Commanders. This mode, announced at Blizzcon last fall, sees players working together to take down enemies across a variety of objective-based missions.

As the mode's name suggests, you play as a "commander" character pulled from the StarCraft universe. Each commander has his or her own unique attributes and abilities that can be leveled up by playing well. The first three confirmed commanders are Jim Raynor, Kerrigan, and Artanis. More will be announced later.

Allied Commanders Confirmed Characters:

  • Jim Raynor - Represents the heart and fighting spirit of the Terran Dominion, leading an army that focuses on infantry and Terran war machines, including the ability to call down the power of the Hyperion Battlecruiser, the flagship of his fleet
  • Kerrigan - Takes to the battlefield alongside her Swarm, which comprises some of the most iconic Zerg units from the StarCraft franchise
  • Artanis - Commands the Protoss forces from high above in the Spear of Adun, and can quickly reinforce his allies anywhere on the map, including calling down orbital strikes with deadly precision

Preorders for Legacy of the Void recently opened. Everyone who pre-buys the game will receive immediate access to Legacy of the Void's three-mission prologue, Whispers of Oblivion. For more on Legacy of the Void's various versions, check out this post.

Just this week, Blizzard confirmed that Legacy of the Void--the final chapter in the StarCraft II saga--will definitely launch before the end of calendar year 2015.
