Now Playing: Baby Yoda's Best Moments In The Mandalorian

For those that aren't familiar with the animated Star Wars series, Tano played a major role in Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels. She was the Jedi padawan of Anakin Skywalker, before his turn to the dark side to become Darth Vader. She ultimately became a commander in the Grand Army of the Republic and a powerful Jedi in her own right. She was last seen in the series finale of Star Wars Rebels, when she set off on a quest with Sabine Wren--a Mandalorian--to track down Ezra Bridger, the former Jedi padawan.

This isn't the first time Dawson's name has been tied to the role of Tano. It's a casting some fans have been championing for years. The fan movement was even brought up to Dawson during an interview on Good Morning America.

The second season of The Mandalorian is currently scheduled to premiere on Disney+ in October. It remains unclear if that release date will be postponed due to the COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic.
