Star Wars: Rogue One Director's Cameo Revealed

Did you spot Gareth Edwards in the sci-fi spinoff?

Before the release of Star Wars: Rogue One, director Gareth Edwards announced that he has a cameo in the sci-fi spinoff. He didn't reveal the part at the time and he still hasn't do so himself.

This story contains spoilers about Star Wars: Rogue One.

Now, someone on Twitter claims to have discovered Edwards' cameo--and it's pretty cool. As you can see in the image below from Leonardo Valdivia, the rebel soldier in the foreground bears a striking resemblance to Edwards. He's the one, at the end of the film, who disengages the Tantive IV ship, helping save key characters like Princess Leia, C-3PO, and R2-D2.

Star Wars: Episode VIII director Rian Johnson can also be seen in Rogue One, playing the role of a soldier on board the Death Star.

Rogue One came out on December 16 and has made more than $800 million to date. It arrives in China today, January 6, and money from that market is expected to help push the film over $1 billion. The country is currently facing terrible smog, which some say could hurt its opening-weekend performance.
