Star Wars Jedi: Survivor Reportedly Has Serious Performance Issues On PC

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is getting positive reviews, but its PC performance apparently leaves a lot to be desired at the moment.

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is one of the most anticipated sequels of the year, and though most reviewers have a lot of good things to say about it, its PC performance isn't quite there yet.

YouTuber Skill Up said in a tweet that the game suffers from serious frame rate issues. They said that the Jedi: Survivor struggled to reach 60fps on a RTX 4090 and AMD Ryzen 9 5950X, which is the best GPU currently available. As you'd expect, that's far above the specs of the average Steam user according to its monthly survey. They also said that the game's CPU and GPU utilization seems stuck at 30% on their computer, indicating poor optimization. Skill Up also said that the game has a major audio bug that affects every cutscene.

PC Gamer also reported performance issues, stating that cutscenes often run at 15fps, and that the game's open world sections struggled to meet 35fps on an RTX 2080 Super. What's most concerning here is that all of these sources are reporting that fiddling with the graphics options doesn't seem to help these frame rate woes at all. As such, PC players may have to wait and hope that the scheduled April 28 patch will improve things across the board.

For its part, publisher EA has said that it will issue several patches in the weeks ahead, promising bug fixes, improved performance, and accessibility features. It remains to be seen when these problems will be totally resolved. 2023 has seen a number of subpar PC ports, including Wild Hearts and The Last Of Us Part 1, the latter of which recently got an update.

In GameSpot's Star Wars Jedi: Survivor review, critic Jordan Ramée praised the game's moving story and pinpoint combat:

"Survivor builds on Fallen Order in several meaningful ways, tightening up the combat mechanics, expanding the variety of lightsaber styles, alleviating the frustration of platforming and puzzles, and digging into less-mainstream Star Wars lore to tell a fantastic story about a Jedi trying to defeat a tyrannical evil at all costs and coming to the realization that you can't just fight for good--you have to fight for good in the right way. It's a superb Star Wars game that gets into the nitty-gritty of the struggle of what it takes for a Jedi Knight to begin the journey toward the rank of Master."
