Now Playing: Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order Gets New Teases - GS News Update

Our first look at Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order is days away, with an official reveal planned for Star Wars Celebration. The Celebration panel will take place on April 13, but ahead of that big event the studio and EA have updated the official site with a new look at the game's logo. It also updated its social media channel with a scintillating hint at what's to come this weekend.

[Update: The Star Wars Celebration panel has concluded and we've gotten loads of details about Respawn's single-player, no-microtransactions Star Wars game. Original story follows.]

The most intriguing look comes from the EA Star Wars Twitter, which appears to show an image of a shrouded lightsaber accompanied by the phrase "Don't stand out." In the story of Jedi Fallen Order, those who survived the Emperor's purge have gone into hiding, so this may be a reference to that narrative backdrop. We don't have a name or other identifying information about the protagonist, so it's difficult to say yet how this new story will tie into the main narrative of the saga.

The company also debuted the logo for the game, and as you might expect, it puts a heavy emphasis on the word "Jedi." One of the few details we know about Jedi Fallen Order is that you play as a Padawan--essentially a rookie Jedi--and the warrior monks are among the most enduring parts of the Star Wars legacy.

Respawn's Star Wars game is one of the last remaining in production that we know of from EA, after the publisher canceled Amy Hennig's Star Wars game and then shuttering an open-world Star Wars project. Respawn itself is having a big year, not only with Jedi Fallen Order slated for this holiday season, but also with the surprise-hit Apex Legends.

I'd rather have a new Jedi Knight sequel with Kyle Katarn returning as the protagonist, otherwise I want Star Wars 1313 revived and completed.

Avatar image for DocMARs

Please be a spiritual successor to the Jedi Knight series!

Avatar image for spacemedafighterx

Due to Order 66 being in effect, if activating ur lightsaber in public triggers a 5-star wanted level ala GTA, that'd be a cool gameplay element.

I'd love a reason to be way into Star Wars again (the movies sure as hell aren't doing it), but there's almost no chance this can deliver. Partly because of that EA logo, partly because I don't know how to feel about this being made by Respawn. I mean, if you told me Respawn was making a sequel to Republic Commando, given how much I love Titanfall 2, I'd be stoked for that (though, still worried it couldn't overcome EA's influence). But when you have 'Jedi' in the title...that feels like it should be a third-person game where you play as someone wielding a lightsaber. I don't know if that's really Respawn's jam. And I don't think anyone can make first-person lightsaber combat feel good.

Lucasarts already planned a sequel to Republic Commando named Imperial Commando but they canceled that.

Friendly advice, don't get hyped. There is a trailer coming and trailers lead to Sea of no man's anthem division 76. Yeah, I'm telling you to not trust Respawn.

Avatar image for nsa_protocol44

@PETERAKO: That sounds like one heck of a cool game. Where can I buy it?

Avatar image for poe13

@nsa_protocol44: only at GameStop. Power to the losers that keep pumping money into this garbage industry.

I cant wait to be horribly disappointed

Mobile game

Actually set in the clone wars (again)

Remember star wars galaxies?

It's gon suck.

Avatar image for UltimateBastard

Is this to be a single player focused story driven game, because that would be incredibly odd both for EA and Respawn.

Avatar image for jahnee

@UltimateBastard: Not really that odd. Titanfall 2 had one of the best Single Player campaigns in recent years.

Avatar image for UltimateBastard

@jahnee: Really? Never played it. Bought battlefield one against my better judgement. Felt a good single player campaign was all that was missing from the first titanfall.

Avatar image for Devils-DIVISION

Excited, but not holding my breath. It's EA--if it fails it fails. Just have to move on and wait for Cyberpunk; where I prohpesise no disappointment. Hardly a prophecy I know.

Avatar image for J_P-

I fear for Cyberpunk because of all the whiners whining about how it doesn't have thirdperson since the last reveal.

Avatar image for zorrodelbarrio

It's EA... sorry but i will pass...

I still love you Respawn, but I do not trust EA with games anymore...

Avatar image for Pierce_Sparrow

Star Wars celebration? I thought everyone hated SW these days.

Avatar image for Sound_Demon

Shame Respawn are working on a terrible franchise rather than TF.

Avatar image for Thanatos2k

With these EA announcements I always expect the worst and still come away disappointed.

Avatar image for gamingdevil800

Imagine if the first level is playing as Anakin marching on the Jedi temple it would be pretty awesome anyway.

Avatar image for NorseLax09

Hoping for the spiritual successor of the Jedi Knight franchise.

Avatar image for salty101

Respawn just ignore everything EA tries to tell you and do your thing.

Avatar image for pongman1975

The title looks cool. The EA part, not so much. If this is some multiplayer focused BS I'm gona be so mad. My expectations will remain skeptical until I find out through reviews and other media that EA FINALLY did something right for a change. See, we shall. Lets just hope Respawn doesnt end up in the Sarlac pit due to EA being the Death Star of gaming.

Avatar image for t_smith

@pongman1975: I commend your use of metaphors sir.

Avatar image for lionheartssj1

These are indeed, the dark times.

Avatar image for santinegrete

A full fledged campaign or bust.

Avatar image for alucardswrath

Anthem was highly anticipated too folks, remember that and remember who's calling the shots for this game too. Keep your expectations really low, I think we all learned a lesson or two when it comes to games from EA.

Avatar image for m4a5

@alucardswrath: Yeah, but Respawn has a good track record (albeit short). I won't assume the worst until they give me a better reason to.

Andromeda was the warning about Anthem for Bioware...

Avatar image for anduril1

@m4a5: Respawn is still led by Vince Zampella, one of the leaders who created the original MOH and COD, hopefully he still has pull and fights for his studio. Really hoping for a good star wars game...

As for bioware, once the founders cashed in and then left, the studio basically had no senior leaders with pull with EA and to make decisions. Bioware is not the bioware we know anymore.

Even so, EA buyer beware...

Avatar image for alucardswrath

@m4a5: Okay I can accept that as a really fair answer. Respawn did have a good record so far with 2/2 (knock on wood) Hope it continues.

Avatar image for m4a5

@alucardswrath: Technically 3/3 as Apex Legends counts (and yes I'd put that as a positive with the quality and great features it sounds like it had at launch). Haven't bothered to play that one yet though...

Avatar image for alucardswrath

@m4a5: Same here I'm not really into BR games though but I have heard Apex is good for the genre and for those who like it.

Avatar image for NorseLax09

@alucardswrath: Look at Apex as what a developer can do when not constrained to time and corporate BS. The put out a game that no one asked for, without telling anyone, and it became an overnight hit.

Avatar image for Mirzaeekhorram

Seems like Chris Avellone is one of the writers of the game.

As a fan of Titanfall 2, I'm pretty excited.

Avatar image for MadCat221

@Mirzaeekhorram: As a non-fan of the fun and joy-draining deconstructiveness of KOTOR 2 and FONV DLCs Dead Money and Lonesome Road, I am the opposite of excited. I honestly think I would have enjoyed those three much more if not for the sanctimonious Chris Avellone author avatars in each of those browbeating me. If there's another in this game.... hard pass for me.

Avatar image for connorman01

Ugh the EA logo makes me nauseous.

Avatar image for Forcecaster

Just that damn EA logo everywhere.

Avatar image for videogameninja

Interesting, this will be.

Avatar image for skittymiao

@videogameninja: Agree you, I do.
