Star Wars Battlefront 2's Writers Revealed

Walt Williams and Mitch Dyer are crafting the story.

The writers for Star Wars: Battlefront II have been revealed.

The story has two main scribes: Walt Williams, who wrote the story for the well-received military shooter Spec Ops: The Line, and former IGN video game editor Mitch Dyer.

Game director Mark Thompson told Glixel that both Williams and Dyer are "voracious fans" of Star Wars; each posses an "encyclopedia knowledge of everything that existed" in Star Wars, he said.

Unlike many Star Wars stories, Battlefront II's is told from the perspective of an Empire soldier. The game picks up after the events of Return of the Jedi, putting you into the boots of Iden Versio.

"Between the original trilogy and the new trilogy, there were stories starting to be published [as fiction], but no 'visual' storytelling," Thompson said about choosing this particular era for Battlefront II. "There wasn't anything visual or interactive that had been done in that space. That seemed like a good place for us to do something different and break new ground."

You can read the full interview here at Glixel.

Doesn't matter, EA will squeeze all creative life out of this. "Who needs story for microtransactions and season passes?"

They could've worked on fcking Half Life for all I care, at the end of the day it's EA that decides what is done with the game, not the writer.

If EA decides to listen to their 13 year old focus groups again, I doubt a good script can even save this game.

I was sold when I heard the writer of Spec Ops the line was in it, but they went ever further with playing as an Imperial. I couldn't ask for any more in a Star Wars game.

Damn, I said I wasn't going to get hyped too...

My interest for this game went from - 50 to over 9000. The writer of Spec Ops The Line is a genius. Guess I'll have to get this game.

@Acillatem1993: Agreed. Spec Ops had an awesome narrative. I'm still pissed about the lack of coop for PC though. If they change their mind on that one I'll buy it for sure.

@Acillatem1993: now that's a cool idea. Coop in Spec Ops could have been awesome, especially considering how the team starts to turn on each other at the end.
