Star Wars: Battlefront 2 Has A Daily Credit Cap For Arcade Mode, It Seems

Players may not be thrilled.

It has been discovered that Star Wars: Battlefront II's Arcade mode has a daily credit cap, which could be yet another element of the game that fans aren't happy about. This cap was discovered weeks ago, but recently gathered more attention after Game Informer's Andrew Reiner tweeted about it. [Update: Ahead of launch, Battlefront II microtransactions have been removed for the time being.]

The credit cap may be annoying to players since it essentially means you can't grind through to get credits, if you wanted to do that. With the cap in place, the game seemingly pushes you toward spending real money to buy loot boxes.

Earlier today, Battlefront developer DICE released a statement saying that it is constantly looking over feedback and will change the game as it sees fit in the future. It could be that this cap is removed or altered down the road, though that remains to be seen.

Battlefront II doesn't officially release until November 17. The game is playable on Xbox One and PC right now through EA/Origin Access, and players are also raising their concerns about how the game can feel pay-to-win because loot boxes with game-changing items can be purchased with real money.

Another part of Battlefront II generating buzz and controversy is the credit values to unlock heroes. Some remarked that they were too high, and in response, DICE just today announced that the credit-unlock values for characters like Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker are dropping by 75 percent. EA's original statement on the matter did not go over well on Reddit, where it was downvoted more than 500,000 times.

The EA/Origin Access trial provides the full multiplayer component and the first three single-player missions, though you're limited to a total of 10 hours of gameplay. Pre-ordering the Deluxe edition gets you complete access on November 14, including on PlayStation 4. You can read more in our Battlefront II review in progress.

Seriously; anyone who buys this game needs to have their head examined. How can you justify plunking down $60+ for a game that's specifically designed to make you have to spend even more money to enjoy it? "But you don't have to buy those lootboxes!" some will say. OK; so you end up going through a completely pointless grind just so you can get the goodies then? Yeah; that's so much fun!

@BigFeef: Really huh? I need to get my head examined? I pre-ordered the standard edition for the PC for 53,99 euros on Origin. I will not spend further money on this title. I will unlock everything I unlock by simply playing the game. I will enjoy playing the game even when I'm not MVP. The game runs like a dream on my GTX 1070, I get excellent performance at 1080p max settings. And best of all, there is a TON of content in the game, which will expand for free after release. There are so many maps in this game already, and you get free maps after release. You don't have to buy a season pass to get these maps. A quite excellent value proposition.

All this Loot-Box stuff is garbage. They are making us pay $60 for a game then bilking us death to the privilege of trying to enjoy a thing we bought.

THIS HAS TO STOP! WE DESERVE BETTER!

@ltjohnnyrico: If it's a game I like then yes. In fact I have bought season's pass version games for that price already.

There is such a thing as offering more content which is fine. And locking content behind paywalls/making it almost impossible to get unless you pay which is what they are doing here.

More than a decade ago when games started with DLC and micro transactions I said games would become more and more taxing on the players, yet nobody seemed to care enough and now this is what we have. I never gave a cent of my hard earned money to that practice, those who did, you only have yourself to blame for what is going on.

@jack00: why didn't we listen to you? The world would be saved by now. I thought i was supposed to buy the horse armor to support the devs that didn't make enough because of evil used games...? I'm so sorry, please forgive me.

@jack00: Forsooth 'twas naught but you who said, however I did not listen then, and now I get to reap the rot from these seeds I sowed. If only that shiny steel armor hadn't so graciously adorned the equine bareness of my queenly black mare, but alas, 'twas majestic! [Weeps]

Someone in their marketing department needs to be shot but I'll give them points for execution; the most efficient alienation of their player bases across the board On the bright side, any money that I would have spent on an EA game gets to stay in my pocket.

@moonco: what, are the devs in comas? They'll have it ready in 6 months, but they have to strategically plan when to release it, so as not to attract the fun police (again).

This game is seriously trash. Remember, according to fools, microtransactions don't effect the game at all! They're optional! Just don't buy them and the game is the same!

....Right?

It's blatantly obvious they did not balance the game for player experience, but instead for monetary expenditure. This is exactly why microtransactions have no place in full-price, $60 AAA games.

Are these credits kind of like the ones earned in halo reach? Those would be used to unlock armor pieces and cosmetic stuff like flies around the helmet. I remember back then you could play the horde like mode and have modifiers on that would pretty much break the mode in single player but also earn you credits somewhat fast.

@crunkster64: There is cosmetic stuff, but you also get new weapons, abilities, and hero characters, all of which can give players an advantage.

Da fuq EA? You want your game to be good? Make it something people are gonna want to play. Stop imposing crappy virtual limitations. People see right through that. We're not dumb.

Arcade mode is the version of the actual MP that you can play vs AI. If you want to actually grind you can just play the normal MP which gives way more credits than the Arcade mode. This post is just trying to take advantage of the EA pitchfork bandwagon that has been going on for this entire day. Please stop posting click bait garbage like this thx.

@origamibomber: Yeah, for that I'd need PS+ which is not mandatory anyway. And don't give me that "online MP is basically the reason this was made" crap. No, it is not. In that case they wouldn't have made a single player campaign.
Basically I'd have to choose who to pay extra money to - EA or Sony.

@origamibomber: yeah cause 40 hours for a hero unlock is totally justifiable. also you only get around 315 credits per match no matter how good or bad you do. no incentive to do well at all in the game

@origamibomber: Seriously? Don't play arcade mode, play against people who have spent real money to buy powerups and get your behind handed to you, so you feel forced to spend money to be on an equal playing ground. EA is the PITS, I can't believe you're actually defending them. For shame!
