Star Wars 7 Actor Asks EA for Battlefront Story Mode

"Will fans get a full on offline story mode? It's more of an enjoyable way to learn controls."

Star Wars actor John Boyega, who played Finn in The Force Awakens, would have liked for Star Wars Battlefront to have had a traditional campaign. The actor, who says he's a fan of the Battlefront franchise, talked about the subject today on Twitter.

EA responded by asking if Boyega had played Battlefront's Missions, the closest thing the game has to a story mode. The actor said he had, but it still left him wanting more.

Boyega also asked if he could visit EA's headquarters in the UK, to which EA said, "sounds like a date."

Although Battlefront does not have a single-player campaign, it's possible that the game's rumored sequels will.

Additionally, outside of the Battlefront franchise, EA is working on another Star Wars game that is being led by former Uncharted director Amy Hennig.

Just this week, EA CFO Blake Jorgensen said sky is the limit for what it can achieve with the Star Wars brand, the license for which is has for the next decade.

"As everyone knows, with Star Wars, there is an unlimited amount of things you can do with the content. And as Disney starts to add more and more new content, that gives fuel to our ability to add more games around it."

GameSpot may get a commission from retail offers.

I bet it's hard being a GOOD developer for EA. You know exactly what they want you to do, you know it's going to piss a lot of the fans right the hell off, and there's really nothing you can do about it. I'm sure they probably beg, "Please let me make this, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, the fans will love it"! Then all they get from the suits is either ,"no", or "we'll put it in later, and make those suckers pay for it".

@Nepti: hahaha, great way to put this game. I and most people agree with this type of review . It was crazy EA not to have a solo campaign mode especially on this game. This was supposed to be their greatest work on a game especially on Star Wars!!! And they went all out on the details and graphics but leave out the single most important feature any awesome game must have and that is ...."solo campaign". I have the game but honestly stopped playing for awhile because 1) I'm not much of a mutlplayer fan and 2) the mods are short live excitement wanting for MORE but after awhile that too becomes boring. EA! you guys better have a story solo campaign mode in Future Star Wars games if you want us to keep purchasing. I know you guys can do an awesome solo campaign mode, wish you had done it on Star Wars Battlefront!! Look at CODIII...now this is an awesome great game..Has both an awesome solo story mode campaign and a multiplayer mode.

Everyone with half a brain knows that SP is better than MP in any game....and no, i'm not being ironic.

@Evil_Sidekick: Battlefield games have both MP and a campaign.

The campaigns are almost completely irrelevant. If you choose to play them at all, you're done with them within 5 hours and never touch or even think about them again.

@Evil_Sidekick: Er...no, that's not true at all. Halo 2 is generally considered meh, but that multiplayer...and look at Left 4 Dead. It's pretty dry in singleplayer, but it's at its best when played with other people.

Lack of a story shouldn't be much of a surprise since the new movie didn't have one either. Hard to base a story on something that doesn't exist.

Nah -- no single-player story mode needed...

But MP-based story mode would be EXCELLENT... Run through all the different game modes with a group of friends or match-made co-op players (no friendly fire damage, just stuns, thanks).

@Pyrosa: Worked for Left 4 Dead and Borderlands. And it's pretty much the only redeeming trait of Dead Island.

Good to see an actor from the films liking the games. Way better than somebody only wanting their paycheck instead of wanting to become engaged in whatever they're in.

Credit to John.

@Shantmaster_K: id rather take no Star Wars games than there being cheap, shallow mindless cash grabs like what EA is putting out.

@Shantmaster_K: There would be Star Wars games anyway, now we just know that they will all likely be shallow cash grabs and that's beyond unfortunate.

@Shantmaster_K: The Lego Star Wars games were fun. they offered tons of content and hours of simple, Lego fun. and yeah TOR was a disappointment....from EA! The Force Unleashed series may not have been the greatest Star Wars games ever like everyone was hoping but they were fun in there own way. more than than Star Wars Battlefront 2015 can ever hope to be. you have invested your faith and possibly money in a Star Wars game that is nothing more than a shiny, over-glorified piece of shit. while the future for Star Wars films is very promising, the same can not be said for the future of Star Wars video games. we are in for some dark days in terms of Star Wars gaming i can tell you that.

Everything that Battlefront 2 had, Battlefront EA is missing...Story with narrative would be a $25 DLC add on with EA's business model.

I do miss playing battlefront, I went hard on it at first, none stop playing and I think that's what got to me and hit that spell where I felt a bit bored.

Certainly I will return, I defrost would if it had a single player/co op story mode, that's the one thing and first thing I though would of been in the game..

While it won't change anything in the current game I'm glad that he has put our (gamers) point across to EA. Then again from the brief communique we have seen here this could well be Boyega's way of saying 'You should employ people like me in your games'.
