Star Trek: Picard, the latest Trek offering on CBS All Access, has now premiered. Before the first episode's debut, the series was already renewed for a second season and it looks like casting is well underway. During an appearance on The View to promote the new show, Sir Patrick Stewart was reunited with his Star Trek: The Next Generation co-star Whoopi Goldberg, who played the character Guinan. He wasn't just there to convince people to watch the show though, as he also had some business to take care of.

"I'm here with a formal invitation," Stewart told Goldberg. "It's for you, Whoopi. Alex Kurtzman, who is the senior executive producer of Star Trek: Picard and all of his colleagues, of which I am one, want to invite you into the second season."

The smile on Goldberg's face makes it truly seem like the moment is a surprise. And when the two hugged after and Stewart begged her to "please say yes," she quickly agreed to it.

For the uninitiated, Goldberg's The Next Generation character was Guinan, a bartender on the Enterprise. She was a close friend of Jean-Luc Picard (Stewart) and often helped to advise him in times of need. The character first appeared in the Season 2 premiere of the show and recurred throughout its run, with her final appearance being in the film Star Trek: Nemesis.

"Star Trek was one of the greater experiences from the beginning to the end," Goldberg said of her time with the franchise. "I had the best, best, best time. The best time ever."

The first season of Picard premieres January 23 on CBS All Access.
